Extensions (Sitelink Extensions) in Google Ads

In this post, Optimus lists Google Ads extensions and explains how to use them to improve ad CTR and reach more users at no extra cost.

Contents

1. Sitelink extensions

Sitelink extensions display other sections of your website, subcategories or new products, or highlight specific discounts and promotions.

Note: When setting them up, do not skip the additional description lines, which help improve sitelink performance.

The higher an ad's CTR, the more fully it displays all 4 sitelinks and descriptions. Taking up more space on Google also attracts users' attention.

2. Callout extensions

Callout extensions expand your ads with offers, promotions, discounts, unique selling points, and features and benefits of your products and store.

This extension is usually less prominent, but you can use it to save space in your extensions or highlight things without a landing page, such as delivery or support details.

Pay attention to the content and amount of information shown to customers. Google allows 2 descriptions to appear at once. If those 2 descriptions appear alongside callouts, information can be repeated and the ad can become too long for customers to want to read.

3. Promotion extensions

Running a promotion and want more users to know about it? Make your ad stand out by sharing your message, promotions and discounts directly in Google search results. For example, see JCPenney's 25% Easter promotion below.
