Meta to Launch AI Chatbots with More Than 30 Personalities
The new AI chatbot tools from Meta are designed to converse with users like real people. They can also provide information, entertainment or customer support.
The tool will soon be available across various parts of Facebook, Messenger and Instagram.
The AI chatbot was spotted in testing when app researcher Alessandro Paluzzi posted screenshots from Instagram's back-end code in June.
As you can see in this example, Meta is developing more than 30 different AI personalities. Their general response tools offer functionality similar to the hugely popular ChatGPT, but are integrated specifically into Meta's apps.
You can also summon these AI chatbots in your direct message threads by sending a question to @ai.
AI personalities are one of the key initiatives Meta chief Mark Zuckerberg mentioned when announcing a new ‘top-level product group’ to work on AI tools. Among its other AI initiatives, Meta is also developing image-generation tools for Instagram, a text assistant for WhatsApp and more advanced video-generation elements.
As generative AI becomes a major technology trend, it makes sense for Meta to join this growing wave and incorporate these tools wherever possible. Over time, as the tools develop, they could become useful and valuable parts of your social media experience.
